AWS European Sovereign Cloud Migration
Keep your data, access and operations inside the EU.
We move your applications and data to the AWS European Sovereign Cloud and set it up properly from day one. You get an EU-only environment you can show to customers, auditors and regulators.

Migrate your applications to the AWS European Sovereign Cloud
What is the AWS European Sovereign Cloud?
AWS European Sovereign Cloud is a separate AWS cloud located entirely in the EU. Its first region is in Brandenburg, Germany. It is run by EU-based staff, and your data, user accounts, permissions and billing information stay in the EU.
It is not just another AWS region. It has its own accounts, its own login and its own billing. Nothing from your current AWS setup moves over automatically, and some AWS services aren’t available there yet.
That’s why moving there is a project, not a copy-paste. We check what you run today, plan what goes where, build the new environment and move your systems step by step, with a way back at every step.
Check before moving
We list every system, tool and service you use and check what works in the sovereign cloud and what needs a replacement.
Build the foundation
New accounts, access rules, logging and security settings, all written as code, so nothing is set up by hand.
Run it after the move
We stay to monitor, support and improve the platform, and keep your logs and metrics inside the EU too.
Sovereign cloud migration: what we can move
From AWS Frankfurt, Dublin or another AWS region
You’re already on AWS, but your accounts can’t be moved. We set up new accounts, update your Terraform code to work in the sovereign cloud, and copy your data with continuous sync until the switch. Your architecture stays familiar, it just runs under EU-only rules.
From your own servers or another cloud
Moving out of a data center, a hosting provider, Azure or Google Cloud? We plan the move straight into the sovereign cloud, so you move once, not twice. Simple systems move as they are; others move to managed databases and containers where it saves time and money.
Split setup: sovereign + regular AWS
Not everything needs to be sovereign. Sensitive data and core systems go to the sovereign cloud; public websites or non-sensitive services can stay in regular AWS. One set of tools for your team to manage both.
For regulated companies
Healthcare, fintech, iGaming and SaaS companies with EU-only clauses in their contracts. We set up encryption with your own keys, audit logs that stay in the EU, and documentation that helps with GDPR, NIS2 and DORA reviews.
More than a one-time migration
Migration to Sovereign Cloud Services
The move is only the first step. A sovereign cloud stays sovereign only if it’s run that way every day. We can take care of the platform after the switch.
DevOps Services
Deployment pipelines that work inside the sovereign cloud, even where AWS’s own CI/CD tools aren’t available yet.
Cloud Engineering
Networks, access, encryption keys and private connections designed for the sovereign cloud from the start.
SRE Practices
Monitoring, alerts and incident response, using tools that keep your data in the EU.
How we work
1 Step
Check & planList of your systems, what works in the sovereign cloud, what needs replacing, timeline and cost.
2 Step
Build & moveNew environment, updated code, data transfer, switching systems over one by one with a way back.
3 Step
Run & reportMonitoring, support, cost control and up-to-date documentation for audits.
AWS European Sovereign Cloud: common questions
It’s a separate AWS cloud located fully in the EU, with its first region in Brandenburg, Germany. It’s operated by EU-based staff, and your data, accounts and billing information stay in the EU. AWS plans to add locations in Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal.
Frankfurt keeps your data in the EU, but your accounts, access and AWS operations are part of the global AWS system. In the sovereign cloud, all of that is separate and run inside the EU. If your contracts or regulators require EU-only operations, you need the sovereign cloud. If not, Frankfurt is often enough.
No. You need new accounts, new user access and a separate bill in euros. Your existing discounts (Savings Plans, Reserved Instances) don’t carry over either. We set up the new accounts and access so your team can log in with the same company credentials.
Not yet. The sovereign cloud started with around 90 services, while regular AWS regions have over 200. At launch, services like CloudFront and most of AWS’s own CI/CD tools were missing. We check your setup against the current list and find replacements where needed.
Companies whose customers, contracts or regulators require data and operations to stay in the EU. Typically: healthcare, finance, insurance, public sector suppliers, critical infrastructure, and SaaS companies selling to these industries.
It lowers the risk a lot, but not to zero. Operations, staff and data are in the EU, but the company is still owned by Amazon. For most regulated businesses this is enough. For rules that require EU ownership, like France’s SecNumCloud, it may not be. We’ll go through this with you honestly before you start.
A few applications usually take 2 to 6 weeks. A full platform takes a few months. We start with one small, low-risk system to test the setup, then move the rest in stages.
Usually not. We copy data in the background, keep it in sync, and switch systems one at a time. If a short maintenance window is needed, we plan it in advance and keep a way back ready.
Some will, some won’t. Every tool you use for monitoring, security or deployments must support the sovereign cloud and keep data in the EU. Otherwise your logs end up outside the EU. We check each tool and suggest replacements.
It depends on the size of your setup. You pay for the migration project, and for a short time both the old and new environments run in parallel. We give you a cost estimate for both the move and the monthly running cost before we start.
Architecture diagrams, security settings written as code, central audit logs stored inside the EU, and documentation that maps your setup to your requirements. AWS also provides its own sovereignty reports through AWS Artifact.
Book a call. We talk about your current setup, your requirements and your deadlines. Then we do a short review and give you a migration plan with a first system to move.
